Steve, your advice to put the plug-ins in /usr/share/audacity worked too but I wanted them to have a permanent home. At last, I can use De-Esser and De-Clicker. The only problem is I have to manually find any bad audio and select 10 second intervals for the DeClicker because of how much RAM it uses if I try to DeClick the entire project. When I finally worked out that I had lost "ownership" of the /home/barbara/.audacity-files⁄plug-ins/ directory (how?)
